How a purchase closes
Koi are bought sight-unseen across oceans. The Koi Portal gives both sides a clear written agreement and a public reputation worth protecting.
- 1
Post or browse
Collectors post exactly what they want, or browse farm and dealer pages and message a seller directly. Either way, both sides chat in one place.
- 2
Check the reputation
Every farm and dealer page carries its star rating and written buyer reviews. Read how the fish arrived, how the seller communicated, and how problems were handled.
- 3
Agree in writing
The seller drafts an itemized agreement: fish, price, shipping and fees. Nothing is binding until both sides sign it, and both see identical numbers.
- 4
Pay the seller directly
Payment is arranged between buyer and seller — bank transfer, card, whatever they both accept. The seller is the merchant of record: they invoice you, handle refunds and disputes, and are responsible for tax. The Koi Portal never holds your money.
- 5
Leave a review
After the koi arrive, the buyer rates the seller out of five stars and writes what happened. The seller can post a public reply to every review.
Reviews, both ways
Buyers rate a farm or dealer out of five stars overall, plus the quality of the fish and how easy they were to work with, and write as much detail as they like. Only the buyer can edit or delete their own review. The owner of the page can post one public response under each review — the same way a business replies on Google — so disagreements are settled in the open instead of behind closed doors.
The Koi Portal does not arbitrate individual transactions or hold anyone's money. It publishes the record and lets you use your own judgement.
