Disclaimers & Buyer Safety

The short, plain-language version of where our responsibility ends and yours begins. The full terms are binding, but this page is what actually matters day to day.

1.We are an introduction platform, nothing more

The Koi Portal lists farms, dealers and buyer requests and lets you talk to each other. We are not the seller, not the buyer, not a broker and not a party to your deal. Every agreement is directly between you and the other person.

The seller is the merchant of record for every sale — they are responsible for fulfilment, shipping, refunds, chargebacks, disputes and tax. Every seller accepts a Seller Agreement saying exactly that before their page can go live.

2.We are not responsible for money

The Koi Portal is not responsible for any financial dealings between a client and a business. We do not hold funds, run escrow, process payments between users, guarantee payment, or issue refunds on behalf of anyone. Deposits, balances, wire transfers, chargebacks, currency conversion, taxes and duties are entirely between the buyer and the seller.

3.The 7% platform fee is non-refundable

Our fee is 7% of the agreed transaction value, earned when both sides sign the agreement, and it is non-refundable under all circumstances — including cancellation, delay, death or illness of the fish, refusal at delivery, refund by the seller, or a dispute between the parties. It pays for the introduction and the platform, not the outcome of the sale.

4.We are not responsible for the fish

Koi are live animals and results vary. We make no guarantee about health, disease status, quarantine history, bloodline, variety, grade, sex, size, growth potential, colour development, or how long a fish will live.

We are not responsible for the safe arrival of any fish — shipping delays, temperature damage, bagging or oxygen failures, mortality in transit, dead-on-arrival losses, customs seizure, or losses after the fish reaches your pond are outside our control and outside our liability.

5.Verification badges are not guarantees

Badges reflect limited checks such as a confirmed email, proof of website ownership, or documents supplied by the seller. They reduce the odds of a fake account; they do not vouch for honesty, quality, licensing, or the ability to complete a deal. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them.

6.Legal, import and welfare compliance is yours

You are responsible for import and export permits, health certificates, species restrictions, quarantine rules, animal welfare law, and any taxes or duties that apply where you live. Check before you buy.

7.How to protect yourself

  • Keep the conversation, the photos and the agreement on the platform so there is a record.
  • Read the star ratings and the written reviews, including the seller's replies.
  • Ask for dated video of the actual fish, and written terms for live arrival and quarantine.
  • Be suspicious of pressure to pay instantly by irreversible methods, or to move off-platform.
  • Agree shipping, insurance and who carries the risk in writing before any money moves.

8.Who operates this platform
